Bafana vs Niger Tickets Selling Fast

Posted by KAY-EL On September - 1 - 2010

Tickets for the Bafana Bafana vs Niger match at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Saturday 4 September 2010  are selling fast, in spite of being more expensive that previous tickets.

R50 Tickets are Sold Out

According to information gathered by KickOff.com from Safa, more than 22 000 tickets have already been sold. The tickets for the lower grand stand which cost R50 are already sold out. There are 20 000 tickets, costing R100, still available for the upper grand stand.

Kick-off time is at 20h30 for this crucial first match in the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Bafana Bafana Need to Qualify

According for Safa, Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena believes the team needs to qualify especially after failing to be part of the last edition of the 2010 AFCON in Angola.

“It was not good watching the continent going to the tournament and we had not qualified as hosts of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. This time we need to ensure that we are on that plane to Gabon and Equatorial Guinea for the 2012 AFCON. Without taking anything away from our opponents – Niger, Sierra Leone and Egypt – our performance in the World Cup has shown that we are capable of qualifying and we have no other alternative but to do so. We owe it to ourselves and to the nation to be part of the next AFCON tournament. I cannot stress this enough that we need to qualify because being there also helps the team in gaining experience. We have a young side that needs to go through the joys and pains of playing in the AFCON so that when the World Cup tournament comes they are ready for competition,” said Mokoena.

Posted by KAY-EL On August - 10 - 2010

Bafana Bafana players and new coach Pitso Mosimane  are confident that they are going to beat the Black Stars of Ghana on Wednesday night in the international friendly at Soccer City.

Coach Pitso Mosimane is Confident

According to football365 Mosimane insists he is in a confident mood ahead of the showdown, despite stating that the Black Stars would provide a true reflection of how well Bafana have progressed.

“I am looking for continuity. We all know how good Ghana are. They were the best African side at the World Cup, but I believe we can beat them,” he said.

“We ended on a high note and we have to start on a high note as well. We have to do it for the nation that has always supported us. We also have to make sure we are continuing with our winning ways. We need to keep on doing well as we prepare for the qualifiers. It is good to always play well and win,”

Black Stars of Ghana have a Strong Team

Ghana have brought 12 of their World Cup stars, including goalkeeper Richard Kingson, captain and defensive hardman John Mensah, the classy young striker Andre Ayew, plus the impressive Kevin Prince Boateng who proved a handful for some of the best defenders in the World Cup, and will give Mokoena and company plenty to think about

Bafana Bafana Squad to Face Ghana Announced

Posted by KAY-EL On August - 5 - 2010

New head coach Pitso Mosimane has announced his Bafana Bafana squad to play Ghana’s Black Stars in a friendly on 11 August at Soccer City.

Mosimane has retained captain Aaron Mokoena, who had been expected to be axed. MacBeth Sibaya also makes the cut despite Mosimane saying recently that some old Bafana players, like Sibaya, might not make it to the team.

Those in the know believe that this promises to be an entertaining match, with the West Africans bringing most of the players that helped the team reach the World Cup quarterfinals.

Bafana Squad Reflects Pitso’s Vision

According to kickoff, Mosimane, though, says the squad reflects his vision. However, he is coy during questioning as to why there are a few old men in the squad and no specific youngsters.

Mosimane did add, that  he hadn’t selected youngsters like Andile Jali and Siyanda Xulu, who were both expected to make the squad as they were involved with preparations for the National U23 team with coach Shakes Mashaba.

The Bafana Bafana squad:

Goalkeepers – Itumeleng Khune and Moeneeb Josephs.

Defenders – Siboniso Gaxa, Morgan Gould, Bevan Fransman, Tsepo Masilela, Aaron Mokoena, Anele Ngcongca, Siyabonga Sangweni and Innocent Mdledle.

Midfielders – Siphiwe Tshabalala, Daine Klate, Teko Modise, Kagisho Dikgacoi, Thanduyise Khuboni, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Steven Pienaar, MacBeth Sibaya and Surprise Moriri.

Strikers – Katlego Mphela, Sthembiso Ngcobo and Bernard Parker.

Bafana Bafana vs the Black Stars of Ghana on 11 August at Soccer City should be a great match – or will it be a slaughter? Well all the supporters want to know is what Safa is doing with the tickets prices…

It was first announced on the SAFA website at the bottom of the page,  Coach Mosimane’s Vision 2014

According to the Safa Website : South Africa hosts Ghana at Soccer City on Wednesday the 11 th of August 2010. Kickoff is at 20h35 and tickets for the match go on sale on Friday 23 July at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers stores. Tickets cost R50.00 all round.

Then now I saw on the Bafana Bafana Official Facebook Page that : There has been a whole misunderstanding, tickets will go on sale a week before the match….we were still trying to validate what the problem was.

This is all from my previous story on Vuvuzela South Africa.

And now I see from two sources, Senego and Africa: News Culture Sport (not from Safa) that the tickets are on sale already, for R100 each!

Bafana Bafana vs Black Stars Tickets Available at Computicket

“The tickets became available yesterday (Friday) at Computicket and according to SAFA communications director Morio Senyane, tickets are selling at R100 each.

Speaking in a media briefing in Johannesburg on Friday, Senyane urged soccer lovers to rush to buy tickets as early as possible and keep the spirit of the recent World Cup going.

“After an hour we had already sold about 250 tickets and only urge the media to help in terms of promoting the match between Bafana Bafana and Ghana at the Soccer City on August 11.”

No Website for Bafana?

Well how on earth is the media going to help promote the game and the tickets if SAFA doesn’t put a media release on their website or keep us informed?

And while we are talking about it – why doesn’t the South African National Football Team have a website? There is so much money in soccer, surely part of Bafana Bafana’s campaign must be a marketing and publicity one?

The supporters want to know, demand to know – why is there a discrepancy between the ticket prices? To pay 100 % more for a Bafana Bafana Black Stars ticket is a lot of money.

See you at Soccer City on 11 August.
