Bafana Bafana 23-man Squad for World Cup Announced

Posted by KAY-EL On June - 1 - 2010

Coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has announced his 23-man squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. South Africa will play Mexico at Soccer City in Johannesburg on 11 June.

After the training camps and fitness regimes and international friendlies, the coach has cut the Bafana Bafana squad to the regulation 23-man squad.

Coach Carlos Alberto Parreira Talks About Bafana Bafana

Coach praises all his players and said how sad he was to leave some of them behind, but FIFA has rules and they had to obey. He talked about the Vision the Boyz have – the vision of the World Cup. “Coach, make us proud”. He delivered the message to Bafana Bafana to make the people proud. He wanted the game in Soccer city. I love the Vuvuzelas. The vuvuzelas help us a lot. The vision of the Boys is to make this country proud.

Now is the time for competition. One more last game. Winning is important, but performance is very important too, Game against Denmark is important. Team has shape and they are ready for the competition. Last four games average three goals per game.

We have to respect everybody but we don’t have to fear anybody.

All of them deserve to be there.

Five that are left out:

Benni McCarthy

Rowen Fernandez

Bryce Moon

Innocent Mdledle

Franklin Cale

I am said about the exclusion of mccarthy.I feelwe need his experience against te international teams. He is slightly unfit but he can score goals and he was not given much chance to practise during our practise matches

  2. melo says:

i think frankline cale was not given enough chance to prove himself but hey hope the players who were chosen will do us proud…RE BAFANA KAOFELA

  3. nice says:

its good that they left out Benni McCarthy – hes been f***** the conuntry for years. He deserves this.

  4. spiriato says:

1st of all Congratulation to Bafana Bafana and to the Technical Team and the Head Coach would Like to Say Thank You for the Gr8! Job.
Benni McCarthy- He didnt listen whn He was Told to shape up His Body since it was a Disaster,But He is a very Good Player with a Good Skill but He also saw Yesterday that the Young Guys are Hungry. I feel bad for Him.

Rowen Fernandez – He is not doing good The Technical Team waz Forcing to put Him into the Squad by the way Thanx for Taking Him out we need sum new Talent now.

Bryce Moon – He was lucky to Play agains Gaul… Macth played on Mondae nyt,But He didnt impressed me not even a Coach too,This is a Lesson tht next tym if u given a Chance just use it,dont play with it.

The rest to Me they are out of Form..

  5. dawood says:

i was impressed with the way sa played on 31st may if they play like that they can beat eny team .carlos you are doing an excellent job in shaping up bafana bafana well done .the refrees should watch carefully befor making a penelty decision in all fairness of the players .sorry benni age is catching up with you it is showing in your body dont spew on the hand that feeds you

  6. Unathi says:

    Good riddance to Bennie!!

  7. Nduduzo says:

I feel bad about the exclussion of Benni McCarthy coz I believe that the selected strikers are not that sharp in front of goal. Mphela has only managed to score penalties but few opportinities turned to goals as he appears to be our main striker. The selected strikers manage to score clear visible goals that cant be missed by any1. Thats my wory.

After all im happy about the selection though im not sure about Methew Both.

  8. Matimba says:

I glade McCathy is out coz I ddnt see his performance while playing wth Columbia. Congrates to Bafana Bafana. Gudluck

  9. Sabelo says:

I’m impressed with the decision taken, i would have loved to see Benni on the final squad but he is unfit and nothing can be done at this stage. happy to see bhele Nomvete in final squad. i have a belief that those 23 men will do us proud and we are behind you 100%.all the best

  10. Josh says:

I think they should have put an extra striker in ie. Benni Mcarthy instead of having three keapers

  11. nancy says:

i think these five men were not that commited for their country and as for Benny,i dont have much to say but just to say he was suppose to lose those fats long time ago.And good luck to the chosen ones.RE BAFANA KAOFELA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. sbusiso xulu says:

  13. Tebogo Sekoko says:

Shake n bake, it is time for the biggest show piece (Soccer World Cup 2010), a Teko le Simphiwe ba tlogele go nna cowards and start attacking (with a great deal of relaxation on the ball and commitment), ga ba thoma go tshameka ka tsela e ntseng jalo Bafana will certainly do well in the tourney, all the best jimbos, masibangene, ubugwala sibu gooi-ya-in the rubbish bin. (Tebogo Sekoko)

  14. maimela c says:

about the exclusion of benni,i think it open all our mind that a team cannot be formed by a one person, it need cooperation of different ideas, because bernni is being excluded it doesnt mean that we are not going to stand as one nation,as a team and win the world cup, lets not look down to our team, lets be proud of it.we are going to win without benni

  15. maimela c says:

we are going to win without benni, cooperation will lead us the way.lets not depend on one person.

  16. very well done to carlos 23 man squad i am very impressed with his decision. but i hope his squad will deliver as we need goals. not draws or looses, and again well done for not including Benny this will teach him a very good lesson .good luck bafana
